Use Your Senses to choose your classes

As a student, you will be much more successful in your studies if you choose a type of education that is compatible with your personal learning style.

To choose the type of education works best for you, you need to know which of your senses is dominant when taking in information.

Some of us are stronger in our sense of hearing, certainly in the sense of seeing, and some in the sense of feeling.

Which sense is most noticeable when you remember something? Note that your memories are more intense when accessing the visual, auditory your, or your body memories.

Do not remember any of your sense I feel stronger than others? What sensory modalities tend to use more often? There are ways that you never use at all when you remember things?

If you are particularly strong in your sense of sight, you can often use phrases like "I see", or "my image" or "Let's shed some light on this."

If you are a person whose visual sense dominates the other senses, probably love looking at beautiful paintings, beautiful objects and landscape. Lights, colors and shapes you input. Probably like fashionable clothes and pay special attention to their cut and color.

If you are primarily a hearing person, you pay a lot of attention to sound. Can we love listening to music, or you may wish to complete silence. Prefer to take in information, listening to a lesson by reading a book. The conversation can be filled with phrases like "I heard you say that" or "that sounds a bell."

People who are primarily kinesthetic pay close attention to their bodily sensations and emotions. The conversation can be filled with references to their feelings, even when discussing the facts or opinions.

You can say something like, "I feel the reason for the stock market has dropped -" People with a very strong kinesthetic prefer comfort over style when choosing their clothing and home furnishings.

We prefer to participate in an activity, instead of reading it. People with a strong sense kinesthetic tend to playing sports, dancing and engaging in hands-on exercise.

Why all this? The reason is that more is known about their particular learning style, the more you will be able to choose the type of learning experiences that work best for you, not the teaching methods that you will find frustrating.

In primary and secondary school, most of the educational instruction is presented in visual or auditory mode. Students are required to make a lot of listening and a lot of reading. This method works very well for those of us who have a strong mix of styles and auditory.

But this style of teaching is a disaster for people with sensory mixture to be very strong in kinesthetic processing sector, while very weak visual and auditory learning.

Students who are mainly students and kinesthetic weak visual and auditory learning often feel lost at school. They can grow convinced that they are stupid, not realizing that they have not received instructions in a language they could easily understand sensory.

People who are strongly kinesthetic learn best from educational experiences that are hands-on ", such as apprenticeship programs, or programs that have a high degree of active participation.

If you are heavily visual, that will do better in classes that emphasize film, video, visual presentations, and reading.

If you are a strong auditory learning, you will enjoy classes that teach through lectures, tapes, discussions and debates.

Whenever it is extremely important to do well in a particular subject, try to choose classes of education that uses a teaching method compatible with the strongest sense.

If you are equally strong in all three methods, you will be able to accept, learn and remember new information, regardless of which sensory modality is used in the presentation.

If you have a sensory system that seems extremely weak, try to avoid taking classes that use this form of education whenever it is very important that you get a good mark in that area.
