Distance Learning Online

Distance learning online has become the latest hi-tech alternative to the old classroom teaching.

What is distance learning?

Distance learning as a term is normally used when talking about teaching and learning where the student is in a place in the world and the school / teacher in another place.

Why use it?

There are many good reasons why a school chooses to use distance learning or e-learning.

1. The school has students from a wide geographic area. And to be able to boost this sector (and the number of students possible), without the need for a larger or more campus dormitories, the online teaching methods to long distance works very well.

And by combining such things as high-resolution webcam and Skype, the cooperation can be taken to a whole new level and never seen before.

There will be a lot of progress in the field of distance learning in the future. Who knows, your children can also have the opportunity to take some lessons from home, using tools built into the TV in the future.

As in the past the main barriers to learning

Tom entered the meeting room, but from his perspective may also have been a jail cell. He was a prisoner in his own day's work. Why? The PowerPoint slide projected on the screen said it all. "Welcome to our training." Refresher training may be necessary for some people, but Tom knew all this stuff .. . but the training is mandatory. It also had a desk full of work most important. He himself told how this stupid policy of mandatory training was, he hated to attend training courses on things he knew.

Mary asked her supervisor to participate in the training of coaching skills to be provided by the company. The problem was that the coach was not Mary. It was not even a supervisor. You did not see any value in participating in this workshop. All I could think was: "What good is this for me?"

Kat was really excited about the workshop session that had registered for. It was a topic that was interested and wanted to know more about. He saw how mastery of these skills would help them achieve their goals. He arrived early and sat near the front. The problem became clear very soon though. The material was too basic. You already know this stuff! She was disappointed to say the least. He put out his money and time to something that was going to waste both of those things.

I'm guessing that may include at least one and perhaps all the scenarios you just read. These are just some of the obstacles that are common in our way of being the most productive learners, we are forced to be there, we do not see learning as relevant or valuable, and we seem to already know the material.

While these barriers are real, there are things we can do to jump or break these barriers - to make the time invested in these situations more interesting and useful for us. Here are three specific suggestions that will help you in each of these situations and many others.

1. Use the time to review and focus. So you do not want to be there, or feel that you already know the subject. So what? You are there. So be there (and pass themselves)! Rather than have your own party bit 'of love, or be cynical about the material and experience, use the time to review what you know. Use the time as an opportunity to do some 'thinking. Reflect on your experiences with these concepts. Think about ways you can improve what you already know. You can become a valuable resource for other students, or you can learn something new through your reflection. The weather there, use it wisely. Even if what you learn is different from what others are learning, you will have made good use of your time, improve your mood and outlook, and taken something precious from the elapsed time.

2. Look for the nugget. Everyone can learn something new. Maybe you know much of the material being covered. If this is the case, a detective. Look for and find at least a nugget that you forgot, you ceased to apply, or a twist on something they already know well. Often a good nugget will be applied to "pay" for your time invested more times. And without sleuthing, that value is never received.

3. Being a beginner. Remember what it's like when you first learn something new? You are excited, interested and entertained. Once we think we know everything, we stop looking for any evidence to prove ourselves wrong. One of the best ways to eliminate all barriers is to arrive at a situation of learning as a beginner, to ask, "What can I learn?" Zen saying states that well, "In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, in the experts mind there are few." Give yourself more options. See the world from a perspective possibilities. Come to the table of learning as a beginner.

These three proposals can have a major impact on value resulting from any learning experience (in class or otherwise). Once you know these strategies and apply these common obstacles to your learning will be a thing of the past. And you'll get more value for all your future learning experiences.

Study tips for students who test

You're in the middle of the school year. It also seems that there are so many things going on, like assignments, projects and extracurricular activities. Now a test is coming and you have to make good on it. How should you study to do better on this test?

First, when studying for a test, you should learn something completely new. It's faster and easier to remember something you've already learned that learning something new. How to find the meaning of words as we read

Vocabulary and reading comprehension

The meaning of unfamiliar words, that one finds in reading can sometimes be met with the surrounding environment, that is, their contexts. The context of the sentence can you tell us the part of speech of the unknown word. Using the context of the paragraph to define unknown words can also be helpful.

B. OTHER FACTORS TO USE obtained by the same

Knowing the part of speech of the unknown word is not the only way to understand its meaning. There are other clues to the meanings of unfamiliar words. They are located directly within a sentence, a paragraph, passage, or chapter. Being able to recognize these clues helps you to define new words in context. These clues are right in the text and can be words or punctuation marks or words or phrases.

It is used to compare words or to identify unknown words that mean the same thing or the opposite of words you already know. The clues can also be used to define unfamiliar words that are examples of a group.

There are five other clues that will help you: 1. Punctuation clues, 2. Definition clues, 3. Contrast clues, clues 4.Comparison, and 5. Sample clues.

Of these types, the most important are the signs of comparison and contrast clues. The clues are very obvious and others are here just for the sake of completeness. The reader should focus on comparison and contrast clues.

The five text clues are helpful, but the most powerful tool is the key framework based. This is the use of information from your experience, common sense, and the context in which the word is difficult. There will be examples of this instrument at the end of the paper.

1. Clues to Punctuation

Punctuation clues are given when the unknown word is delimited by commas, parentheses, brackets, or dashes. The information contained within the punctuation marks sometimes means the same or nearly the same unknown words. Or, the unknown word could be offset by its meaning by punctuation. Information departed punctuation can clarify rather than define the word. Finding these clues is not foolproof.

2. Definition Clues

Definition clues to join the unknown word by word (s) and rename it or to tell its meaning. The clues precede or follow the words which are or act as a liaison between the verbs. A linking verb shows no action but indicates being.

3. Contrast Clues

With the clues, however, you use the opposite of known information to determine the unknown word. Connecting words like however, yet, on the other hand, however, but while, as well as whether to join the unknown word with another word that is its opposite.

You know what it means to be angry, and you know how people feel when they argue. From this, one can understand that it has something to do with vehemence with strong emotion or intense feeling. This is an example of using framework-based context to find the meanings of new words. The meaning is comes from your own experience.

Sometimes it takes a little detective work 'more to decipher the meaning of an unfamiliar word. In these cases, you must draw conclusions based on information provided by the word. Ask questions about how steps can help you to make a fairly accurate estimate as to the meaning of the unknown word. Each of the sentences below is followed by a question. Think about each question, using common sense and asking a question about the sentence that should be able to know the correct meaning of the word in italics.

The first sentence provides enough evidence for you to guess that irate means very angry. Sycophant in the second sentence means sweet-talker. And a fiasco is a complete disaster. (These are not exact dictionary definitions of words. But by using context clues, but you will often be sufficiently accurate to make sense of what you are reading. And the good thing is that it saves time in reading, why don 't must look up every word!)

How to win a lot of money Scholarship

Want to win a lot of scholarship money? Starting school / middle is a great time to start. I'm serious. A winning scholarship effort always requires a plan. And together an action plan takes time.

After one of my interviews a happy couple asked me: "Why do you think that from 8th grade is the best time?" Before I could answer they said: "We are saying to our children in fifth grade to start working to win a scholarship contests and any other competitions that we find out about."

They got results! Before leaving, I discovered their first child had already graduated with a 50% to be paid only with scholarships because they had a late start, or would have been 100%. They were not going to make the same mistake with their other students. I asked them what they thought was the most difficult part of a search. Their response surprised me. "Nothing!" There's just a lot to think about. I really did not have a plan then. Now we do. And now that we've heard your College Scholarship Plan we're going to eliminate some things and add others. I met an old man, we'll call him "Jake", who was in the top third of his class. His GPA was in C + B-range. I told him that many scholarships had C + or higher qualifications. Jake was stunned. He thought that all scholarships for university students were the children with very high GPA. Later, in a letter, I learned that Jake had won a scholarship that would allow him to go to college.

Make sure you are on the same page with your students regardless of GPA, if he / she wants to attend college, it will happen. And families can make it happen by talking early, often and openly.
